What a day we had yesterday with the whole school at some point coming up to the beautiful sunny Billesley Common to take part in the annual Red Tree sponsored run.
Each year group came up and ran 1 kilometre in their House teams.
The staff support and participation was amazing, it was a brilliant team effort from everyone.
Parents and guardians came to support and run also which added to a real Billesley community event.
The children ran superbly and some of their costumes were great.
Big thank you must go to Run Birmingham who came and supported the day, with equipment and marshalls and made the whole event very special.
Our year 5/6 and 3/4 tennis teams represented the school admirably in the local tennis competitions that took place at Billesley Tennis centre.
The year 4 Athletics team performed amazingly in Tuesdays super 4s athletics. Achieving 2nd place in a team competition that meant that all 8 of our athletes, 4 boys and 4 girls had to complete all 4 events. These included javelin, standing broad jump, 400m and 50m runs.
Coming in the top 3 of 9 teams means we now go to the Birmingham school games taking place at Birmingham university on Friday 13th July.
Well done again to our boys and girls.
On Monday 18th July 2018 Billesley Primary School hosted their first ever girls football competition. The competition day was organised to create an opportunity for year 5/6 girls. As it was a world cup year it was themed accordingly.
We were very lucky to have Solihull Moors FC in partnership with us to allow us to provide a wonderful venue and also information about how the girls can get involved in football outside of school.
Five schools entered, Billesley, The Oaks, Percy Shurmer, Colmore and Brookfields. The competition was played as a league format to decide who would play for the 2 trophies. The top two teams would play in a final for the World Cup trophy, the third and fourth placed teams would play for The Plate.
Percy Shurmer and Colmore played out the World Cup final and the winners were Percy Shurmer in an excellent match.
The Plate went to penalties between The Oaks and Billesley after a 0-0 draw. The Oaks held their nerve to win the shoot-out.
We would like to thank all the schools that attended to make the afternoon a fantastic event.
Wednesday 13th June 2018
Our year 4 and 5 boys enjoyed a great day at Kings Heath Cricket club. They did not win but progressed and improved throughout the competition.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in any way they could during our Step, Scoot and Pedal week.
The extra number of bikes and scooters in the bike racks was evident and SLT said that traffic congestion outside the school in the mornings and afternoons was so much lower.
The government has identified the commute to school and work for people is a really important opportunity for exercise during the day. We hope that our focus week has changed families habits and more are travelling to school on foot on wheels that require exercise. Leave the car at home if you can.
We had a draw for the children who had the highest participation rates during the week and the 2 winning children received scooters. Well done to both.
