After much hard work, many rehearsals and hours spent making costumes and recording our soundtrack, the Year 1 performance, made in collaboration with Stan’s Cafe, was brilliant.
The children oozed confidence and performed wonderfully. The performance was a fusion of dance, poetry, spoken word, sound, light and costume; all exploring animals, their bodies and the way they move.
Thank you to all the parents that attended, we are very grateful for your support.
In addition to the performance at school, 1G took their part of the performance to King Edwards School, as part of the Elliott Foundation’s Art Festival.
All in all, a very creative and exciting project. Well done to everyone involved.
On Friday 3rd July 2015, Billesley hosted it’s very first Spelling Bee and it was FANTASTIC!
Finalists from Year 1 through to Year 6 battled it out against each other to be crowned their year group’s champion for 2015. The competition was extremely tense and very, very exciting. The children were amazingly composed, confident and above all, were fantastic spellers.
The staff, parents and children were on the edge of their seats for much of the event, as children, some of whom could only just reach the microphone, were asked to spell increasingly complex words. They did so however, with cool, calm and collected aplomb.
After a lengthy battle, the champions were finally crowned and received a commemorative shield to keep as a prized possession and reminder of the day they achieved excellence!
The Champions are:
1G – Spencer Hazel
2T – Fuad Chowdhury
3M – Kayla Hawkins
4S – Mohammed Mursal
5Z – Iman Mirza
6T – Numaan Sohal
Such was the success of the Spelling Bee, it will now be a regular feature of the school year. Here are some photographs…
This week we have been rehearsing really hard. We have been completing our costumes, recording our sound bites and practising our dance, for the performance on Tuesday 7th July. We are all trying very hard to remember our actions and cues. It has been very hard work, but our teachers are very proud of us and we are all very excited to show everyone what we’ve been doing. We hope you enjoy it.
